What is St. Paul’s Without Walls?

A private-duty home care agency licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health Home Care Division. Our goal is to provide home-based services that help people remain independent in their own home.

What qualifications and training does your staff have?

We hire and train our own staff according to the requirements of The Pennsylvania Department of Health, Home Care Division. New hire training includes:

General topics:

  • Confidentiality.
  • Consumer control and the independent living philosophy.
  • Instrumental activities of daily living.
  • Recognizing changes in the consumer that need to be addressed.
  • Basic infection control.
  • Universal precautions.
  • Handling of emergencies.
  • Documentation.
  • Recognizing and reporting abuse or neglect.
  • Dealing with difficult behaviors.

Personal care:

  • Bathing, shaving, grooming and dressing.
  • Hair, skin and mouth care.
  • Assistance with ambulation and transferring.
  • Meal preparation and feeding.
  • Toileting.
  • Assistance with self-administered medications.

Our staff is required to have criminal background checks, TB tests, Flu shots, a physical, and drug and alcohol testing. Those who a drive also undergo driving background checks.

Staff members are insured by St. Paul’s.

How much do your services cost?

All services provided by St. Paul’s Without Walls are offered on an hourly “fee for service” basis and are billed monthly. Transportation (mileage) fees apply. Long-term care insurance and veterans’ benefits may cover some services for those who qualify.

In what areas do you provide services?

We provide services within a 10 mile radius of St. Paul’s Senior Living Community in Greenville, Pa. Services may be provided beyond 10 miles (three hours minimum) incurring additional fees.

When are your services available?

We have a two-hour minimum requirement (per visit, within a 10 mile radius of St. Paul’s Senior Living Community in Greenville, Pa. Services may be provided beyond 10 miles (three hour minimum), incurring additional fees. Otherwise, we will meet the individual needs of the client, up to and including 24/7 care. Our services are available 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.

Will I have to move to St. Paul’s?

St. Paul’s Without Walls is part of the continuum of care St. Paul’s Senior Living Community offers. Without Walls exists for the purpose of keeping individuals, who so choose, living independently in their homes. There is no obligation to use other St. Paul’s services or accommodations. However, as a client of Without Walls you have peace of mind knowing that should your circumstances change and you need more care, St. Paul’s can support your needs.

Can you help with medications?

You have several options:

  1. An LPN or RN can manage your medication for you.
  2. St. Paul’s Without Walls partners with Philips Technology to offer a Personal Medication Dispenser to use in your home.
  3. Our care partner staff can offer reminders and some assistance with your medications.

Do you provide transportation?

Yes, we can provide transportation and escort services for shopping, errands, medical appointments, religious services, family events, outings, trips, and more. Mileage fees apply.

Do you provide around the clock care?

Our rates are calculated on an hourly fee for service basis. Current fee list.

Do you offer Adult Day Care?

We provide care and companionship right in your home. We can also provide transportation with escort services to the local Senior Center to attend activities and special events.

Do you provide respite care?

Respite care is available. It is short term care designed to provide temporary relief to caregivers in various situations — the caregiver takes a vacation or simply a break or the client is recovering from a hospital stay and needs help in the home during the recovery period. Our standard fees apply to respite care. Current fee list.

Respite care is also available through St. Paul's Senior Living Community in The Heritage and in The Ridgewood.

Does insurance cover the cost of your services?

Some long-term care policies cover home care services. The Veterans Administration also offers benefits for Veterans who qualify often covering homemaker, home aide, and respite care services. Pennsylvania Community Health Choices also covers personal assistant services for those who qualify.
