PA OH Gives 2021 Results

St. Paul's senior living community in Greenville, PA participated in the PA OH Gives "Giving Week" from June 19-25, 2021 to raise funds for benevolent care.

This was the second year for this virtual giving event hosted by the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH to help local nonprofits like St. Paul's impacted by COVID 19.

This was also the second year St. Paul's was forced to cancel its biennial Caring Hearts on Fire Gala, which typically raises about $120,000 for the Good Samaritan Fund. The fund provides support for residents who exhaust their financial resources and cannot afford to pay for the full cost of their care.

St. Paul's encouraged donors to give during PA OH Gives to take advantage of the offer of $140,000 in matching funds to boost the impact of their gift. Thank you to the following generous sponsors who made the matching funds possible - the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH, Zekelman Fund, Dr. Robert & Vera Lartz Charitable Foundation, FNB Wealth Management, Meszaros Family Foundation, O'Brien Children Memorial Fund and Anderson Charitable Foundation.

"Our donors responded so enthusiastically to the opportunity for the free matching funds last year during PA OH Gives that we were excited the foundation was able do this again," said Dawn Hartman, Director of Planned & Major Giving. "Our hope was to raise roughly the same amount in order to fill the gap from the loss of the gala in 2020."

In fact, the donors at St. Paul's gave more! During the 7 day event, 136 donors stepped up and made a gift, raising a total of $49,774 for benevolent care, an increase of 6% from 2020's event.

However, with more charities participating this year and a whopping $1.2 million raised overall, the match amount for each dollar donated was lower as a result. With the match plus a special power up bonus for having the most donors of any participating charity, St. Paul's received a grand total of $56,764 for benevolent care during PA OH Gives.

"Time and time again, our donors show up for the residents who call St. Paul's home," said Hartman. "We are blessed beyond measure for their partnership and help in carrying out our charitable mission to provide quality care and services regardless of financial resources."
