Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Pinterest EmailSt. Paul's Senior Living Community has again partnered with the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH for PA OH Gives during the week of June 19-25 to raise funds for benevolent care.
Last year, the Community Foundation held this first-time virtual giving event to help non-profits like St. Paul's whose traditional fundraising events were cancelled due to COVID-19. The event raised a whopping $575,105 for 44 charities.
"PA OH Gives was a godsend for our Good Samaritan Fund for benevolent care, especially because we had to cancel our gala, our largest fundraising event," said Dawn Hartman, Director of Planned & Major Giving. "Through our generous donors and the match from the Foundation, we raised $61,000 dollars for residents who depend on benevolent care that we wouldn’t have had otherwise in 2020."
Faced with the reality that many non-profits in the region are still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, the Community Foundation decided to hold PA OH Gives again this year.
For St. Paul's, it will be the second year in a row without the Caring Hearts on Fire Gala, which typically raises $120,000 for the Good Samaritan Fund. This fund provides support for residents who exhaust their financial resources and cannot afford to pay for the cost of their care. 65% of the residents at St. Paul’s in skilled nursing care and 12% of those living in personal care depend on benevolent care.
Donations made for St. Paul's during PA OH Gives will be matched by the Community Foundation, increasing their impact. The match amount will be prorated based on the total dollars raised by all organizations participating. Each charity will receive the same match amount per dollar raised. There is $140,000 in matching funds available.
"We are thrilled to be participating in PA OH Gives again this year," said Hartman. "Our donors are the best. They believe in St. Paul's mission and give so generously throughout the year. This event gave them the chance to time their giving and increase the dollar value of their gift from the match. They were pretty excited about that!"
The Community Foundation is not collecting any fees which means 100% of your donation will pass directly to St. Paul's, in addition to the amount the foundation matches.
Donations can be made by credit card or check made payable to the Community Foundation of W PA & E OH with “St. Paul’s” in the memo line. All checks must be received and dated during PA OH Gives during June 19-25 to be eligible to receive match dollars.
Checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation of Western PA & Eastern OH at 7 West State Street, Suite 301, Sharon, PA 16146 or to St. Paul's Charitable Giving Office at 341 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125. Checks can also be dropped off at the Charitable Giving Office in the Keifer Building until 3 p.m. on Friday, June 25.
