St. Paul's Senior Living Community has partnered with the Community Foundation of Western PA and Eastern OH for PA OH Gives during the week of July 25-31 to raise funds for benevolent care.

This is a first-time virtual giving event by the Community Foundation and was created in direct response to the increased need for funding for non-profit organizations like St. Paul's, whose traditional fundraising events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

St. Paul's biennial Caring Hearts on Fire Gala was scheduled for this fall but has been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. This is St. Paul's largest fundraising event and typically raises $120,000 for the Good Samaritan Fund for benevolent care.

The Good Samaritan Fund helps offset the annual cost of benevolent care for residents who exhaust their financial resources and cannot afford to pay for the cost of their care. 62% of the residents at St. Paul’s in skilled nursing care and 12% of those living in personal care depend on benevolent care.

Donations made for St. Paul's during PA OH Gives will be matched by the Community Foundation, increasing their impact.

"We are so thankful to the Community Foundation for doing this Giving Week. It gives us an opportunity to hopefully raise a portion of the funds that usually come in for the Gala," said Dawn Hartman, Director of Planned & Major Giving. "By donating during Giving Week, our friends will increase the value of their gift without giving any more personally because of the match. It's pretty awesome!"

100% of your donation made to the Community Foundation designated for St. Paul's will come to St. Paul's, in addition to the amount the foundation matches.

The match amount will be determined by dividing the total match funds available by the amount of donations received for all participating non-profits during Giving Week. To date, there are $130,000 in match funds available. For example, if a total of $260,000 in donations are received ($130,000/$260,000=.50), St. Paul's will receive a match of 50 cents for every $1 donated. That means a $50 gift would actually become $75!

Donations can be made by credit card or check made payable to the Community Foundation of W PA & E OH with “St. Paul’s” in the memo line. All checks must be received and dated during Giving Week July 25-31 to be eligible to receive match dollars.

Checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation of Western PA & Eastern OH at 7 West State Street, Suite 301, Sharon, PA  16146 or to St. Paul's Charitable Giving Office at 341 E. Jamestown Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.

Checks also may be dropped off in the lobby at The Villas in the designated container until 1 p.m. on Friday, July 31.
